Online masterclass: "Aflote product design project: sustainable life jackets to promote social integration" by Ernest Perera

Have you heard of Aflote? It is a project launched by Luis Morón, José F. Aguilar and Salva Codinach in collaboration with the NGO Homeless Entrepreneur that was created to promote social integration and reduce environmental impact. Through the collection of cork stoppers from different establishments, the aim is to generate employment so that people from vulnerable groups can have a dignified life. And, with the subsequent recycling of these stoppers, they want to promote sustainability and care for the planet. 

The 1st and 2nd year students of the Bachelor's Degree in Product Design have collaborated with Aflote by developing different prototypes of life jackets from reused cork stoppers. Ernest Perera, head of the Product Design area, will talk about the project this Thursday, May 7th at 6:30 p.m. (Barcelona time) in an online session in which the professor Gennís Senén will also participate. Both will give more details about this initiative that combines design, solidarity and sustainability.

Designer of products and experiences that help companies to be more competitive, Ernest is an expert in creating renewed concepts in his projects, providing specific solutions for each case. In 2006 he founded his own brand of home products, Amor de Madre. He has worked with companies and institutions such as Camper, Lékué, Delica, Mago Urban, Alma Light, Rumitag, the Picasso Museum, Artesanía de Cataluña and the ADI-FAD, and has exhibited in galleries around the world. He won the Delta de Plata Award 2018 granted by the ADI-FAD and received a selection from the same contest in 2009. He also won the first prize at the international Les Découvertes, Maison Objet, Paris (2008).
