The auditorium of the Museu del Disseny in Barcelona dressed up last Wednesday afternoon to host our 2019 Graduation Ceremony. The event started with the speech of the general director, Sílvia Viudas, who welcomed the attendees and encouraged the new graduates to never stop adapting: "You are the future, and you must be prepared to face any change, any challenge. From now on you have a lot of opportunities to reach your personal and professional goals without borders".

Our general director, Sílvia Viudas, opened the ceremony

The event continued with a talk by Daniel Jordà, master baker and founder of Panes Creativos, a laboratory of ideas in which, as if he were a product designer, he experiments, innovates and makes all kinds of breads aimed at customers seeking quality, flavor and originality. Our guest explained how he works making risky pairings and he showed live some of the creations that have made him a national and international reference and regular collaborator of great chefs and restaurants. The speaker also talked about his charity initiatives such as the Patonets de la Rita. These brioches were created to commemorate the International Childhood Cancer Day.

Daniel Jordà was the guest speaker at the event

Afterwards, it was time to award the degrees and diplomas of Pattern Making Courses, Higher Art Studies in Design and Master's and Postgraduate Degrees, respectively. The recent graduates Marc de Plandolit and Sara Palma (Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design), Jabier Tolosa (Master's Degree in Fashion Administration and Management) and Isabel Tormos (Master's Degree in Design of Footwear, Bags and Leather Goods Collections) took the stage to speak on behalf of all their classmates.

The new graduates collected their degrees and diplomas

The 2019 Graduation Ceremony ended with the awarding of the Best Master's Final Project Award, which this year went to "SINERGIA" by Mario Espinoza (Official Master's Degree in Experiential Interior Design). The jury of the award, composed by the directors of each program, the area managers and the direction of Pedagogy and chaired by the general director, decided to award this architectural proposal for "demonstrating the ability of design to appropriate emerging technologies, not only in the generation of better experiences around a table but also to solve issues as important as those relating to sustainability". The project has been tutored by Dr. Carmelo Zappulla, director of the master's degree.

Mario Espinoza won the Best Master's Final Project Award

At the end of the event, the graduates and their guests took a picture in our photocall and enjoyed a cocktail on the museum terrace. All attendees took home a little gift by Daniel Jordà and his company Panes Creativos.

Congratulations to everyone and remember that the doors of LCI Barcelona will always be open for you!
