On the occasion of the beginning of the 2017/18 academic year, and coinciding with the teaching staff prior to the start of classes, the new exhibition of LCI Barcelona has been inaugurated. Under the title "It's in our hands", the exhibition (located in the hall) gathers twelve projects by teachers from the School that share the craft spirit, the freshness of their creativity and the love for detail. The curatorship has been carried out by the Department of Pedagogy and Quality, whose director Beatriu Malaret points out that "the craftsman's know-how no longer depends exclusively on the hands, but that the technological component has an increasingly important weight in production". The whole assembly has been made at the School’s FabLab, where the designer and visual artist Pablo García has shaped the different units that make up the exhibition.
"It is in our hands" aims to claim not only the manual creation and maker phenomenon, but also other values closely linked to LCI Barcelona such as Learning by doing, a methodology that we implement in our classes, and interdisciplinarity, since teachers from all areas (Fashion, Graphic, Product and Interior Design) have collaborated in the exhibition. This way, the barriers between specialties have been broken and we can offer to the public an exhibition that breathes design and craftsmanship in unison. Come to Balmes street 209 and don’t miss it!
