The COVID crisis has urged the need to implement sustainability within the fashion sector and to rethink all the processes involved in the creation and repurpose of our clothes.

The 3rd edition of the Fashion Design Symposium by LCI Barcelona, which will be held in English and online, wants to offer a picture of the current situation, as well as practical tools to invite all the stakeholders to co-create and rethink the fashion industry.

These are the three conferences that you will be able to enjoy next Tuesday, June 22nd:

Key sustainability macrotrends with Sofia Dias (17:00h - 18:00h CEST)

Sustainability and circularity have become a major priority for the main fashion companies. At the same time, niche projects are leading interesting approaches and proposals. We invite you to explore key trends on sustainable strategies and applications to open your mind with inspirational ideas.

Sofia Dias is a designer, artist, curious mind and activist of the future. She is dedicated to the forecasting industry, in particular to futures literacy and resilience strategies. She co-directs our Postgraduate in Coolhunting and Trends Research. In addition to lead her own project, dream it · make it, she is one of the founders of Fibra-Studio, an international trend research and consulting network based in Brazil, Portugal, Spain and Italy.

Circular fashion with Peggy Blum (18:00h - 19:00h CEST)

The author of Circular Fashion: Making the fashion industry sustainable (Blume Publishing House) will explain how she explores the circular supply chain through five key components from her book: 1.Create - 2.Make - 3.Market - 4.Use - 5.Renew. A must-read publication that approaches sustainability in a really practical and creative way.

Peggy Blum is assistant professor of Practice, Sustainability, Textiles and Apparel. She has taught Fashion Management and Merchandising in various institutions and participated in a number of sustainability projects and conferences. Previously, she worked as a fashion trend forecaster.

In collaboration with:

7Rs to rethink the industry: How the circular economy applies to fashion at different scales, notions and examples, by Liv Montuori (19:00h - 20:30h CEST)

We will show you examples of how the circular economy can be applied to the fashion industry using the 7Rs. From sector case studies to a small workshop that will help you to implement those strategies in your design practice and change your mindset.

Liv Montuori is a passionate and experienced educator focused on circularity and sustainability. She supports the holistic end-to-end development of students, enabling them to change our industry. Founder of Livable Studio, she has previously worked as a sustainability material and product developer for the Adidas group.
