The LCI Barcelona in-person fashion show is back with "Escape from reality"

LCI Barcelona Fashion Show 2022
July 04, 2022

After two virtual editions, this Tuesday afternoon we will celebrate again in person the final fashion show of our Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design students. This great event will take place at the famous Sala Apolo.

This year's theme is "Escape from reality", which according to the head of the Fashion Department Estel Vilaseca "reflects how students have taken refuge in their creativity to cope with the difficult and uncertain times we are living because of the pandemic". This new paradigm has also reached the international catwalks and has popularized the concept of metaverse.

A total of 61 students will present their final collections, among which we will see projects that go beyond gender and morphology to challenge the human body by breaking with its forms. Sustainability will be present once again this year through proposals based on upcycling, reuse, use of natural dyes, patchwork, etc. These collections are an ode to the traditional, to the handmade, and their goal is to achieve unique garments that will last over time beyond trends.

Once again, the LCI Barcelona fashion show is a transversal and collaborative project in which students, professors and staff of the School participate. The creative direction has been driven from the Fashion area led by Estel Vilaseca, while the set design has been coordinated with Studio Cortes. All the audiovisual production has been worked with Onionlab to achieve a catwalk that escapes from reality according to the creative concept of the fashion show. The public will be located on both sides of the stage and at the top of the space to accentuate the tunnel effect. Live music will be provided by DJ Mëther & Sacker.

We would also like to highlight the collaboration of Towanda Models Agency in the casting process of the 80 models who will participate in the fashion show. Cazcarra will be in charge of the make-up, and Thuya and Barcelona Hair Academy will do the hairdressing. For their part, the students of the Master in Fashion Marketing, Communication and Event Planning directed by Jesús Vázquez will help in the management of the room so that the experience of the attendees is optimal.

The team that has made all these fashion collections possible is led by Gabriel Torres, project manager, and formed by the tutors of Design (Manuel Bolaño, Sophia Pega, Lucia Alcaina, Evelina Martyrosian, Estefanía Feu, Montse Liarte and Jessica Raya), Pattern Making (Maria Costa, Fran Jiménez and Susanna Canalda) and Communication (Daniel Cantó).

If you can't attend the event, you can watch part of the #LCIFashionShow22 via streaming through this link. In addition, the professor and director Alex Llopis will be in charge of recording the entire fashion show.
