February 14, 2018

One of the great moments of the year for our School arrives: on February 22nd and 23rd we will celebrate the 4th edition of the PROSPECT DESIGN LCI BARCELONA. This year's festival will offer a reflection about design and movement based on "I Seem to Be a Verb", the book by Richard Buckminster Fuller, designer of the biosphere of the US pavilion for the Montreal Expo 67.

Prospect Design will include numerous on-campus and off-campus workshops for the entire educational community to live a different and playful learning experience. It will be a unique opportunity to break the conventional discipline of classes, experiment between specialties, try out new formats, etc. Participants will be able to share and exchange knowledge, ideas, aspirations and projects.

As a prelude to the festival, a round table will be held on Wednesday 21st February at 7:00 pm to debate issues such as the role of the movement in design and creative processes and the new proposals and meanings that arise as a result of this connection.

Parallel to the workshops, on Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, a book shop of Gustavo Gili Publishing House will be set up in the School hall: "Drawing the Movement" by Peter Boerboom and Tim Proetel, "3D Printing" by Mathilde Berchon and Bertier Luyt, "Ganchitos" by Íngrid Valls and Leire Villar, "The Creative Look" by Peter Jenny and "Pattern Making and Shoe Making" by Natalio Martín are just some of the titles that will be available. The proceeds will go to the LCI Education Foundation, an organization of our network that aims to provide literacy for the most disadvantaged sections of society.

To crown it all, the closing ceremony of Prospect Design 2018, sponsored by Yzaguirre, Moritz and Solán de Cabras, will take place on Friday from 7:00 pm at Fundació Joan Miró. After the delivery of the Prize for Teaching Excellence to the professor María Costa, the choreographer Marcos Morau, founder and director of the dance company La Veronal, will give the master class "The present as a symptom". The event will end with a cocktail livened up by Flaix FM.

These two days full of activities will reinforce the identity of LCI Barcelona as an educational community based on design as a tool that helps to ask questions about the present and propose solutions for the future challenges. Happy #ProspectDesign2018!
